So finally after all the craziness of school life was over and Jon was all graduated we took off for our way over due honeymoon. First stop we had was Sunday in Carlsbad with Jon's aunt and uncle, Mike and Kathy. They had just given us a fancy looking bread maker so we figured we'd make them a loaf to say thanks. I have never used one of these things before so I was VERY careful to follow all the instructions and include all the ingredients in the correct order. I checked over everything multiple times just to make sure. I pressed all the buttons and it was started. I thought it was funny that they had the yeast put in last on top of the flour, not with the water and sugar... and when it was suppose to be mixing it wasn't. I made sure once again that everything was right there wasn't any step I was missing. Jon came in and checked it out and also pointed out it wasn't mixing at all. But I had done everything right! I figured maybe it just took a long time so not wanting to ruin anything I let the bread maker do its thing. Well I woke up in the middle of the night to a thin dense flour patty with a thick powdering of flour and a spot of yeast on top. It didn't mix, it didn't work. Useless directions! Hopefully I'll figure it out sometime but now that I have yeast I can at least make real bread for calzones and pizzas instead of biskets =P
Anyways so we headed off bright and early Sunday morning for Carlsbad. I drove my longest ever from Tucson to Yuma taking about 3 and a half hours. I was pretty proud of myself. Then Jon took over so he could deal with crazy California traffic. We got to the windmills and there was one that wasn't working and was facing backwards. Jon thought it would make a great picture to share with all of his friends, "The retarded windmill" but upon taking a couple shots I realized that you couldn't tell that one wasn't moving because us muggles don't have moving pictures like in Harry Potter. We had a good laugh at our blondness there. We finally reached Carlsbad around two and had a wonderful lunch with Mike and Kathy, but sleep over came us so we headed off to sleep and woke up just in time for the lunar eclipse! Mike had a telescope with a filter so we could look through there, plus they had some sweet eclipse glasses and towards the end the clouds covered it just enough that we could look right at it. It was pretty awesome! And little did we know when it was done that two hours had gone by! Mike and Kathy were super easy to talk to the whole night long. They made us some awesome soft taco/burrito things and then me and Jon went to rest up for our next three day adventure of theme parks.
Fun times driving in the car
Can you find which one is the retarded windmill???
